After studying at Leeds Metropolitan University Jill became a full member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists in March 1990. Since then she has also gained membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).

After working for many years in the UK, Jill came to Guernsey in 2000 and set up Courtillet Design in December 2005. The practice offers architectural design services, feasibility studies, 3D design, space planning, building surveys, dilapidations & maintenance schedules.

Whilst working for other practices both in Guernsey and in the UK, Jill worked as a key team member on large projects for clients including NTL, Yorkshire Television, Nissan UK, English Heritage/Mansfield Council, Yorkshire Building Society, Huddersfield University, McArthur Glenn, Huddersfield NHS Trust, Keele University, Yorkshire Bank, Bretton College (Wakefield), Royal Mail (Manchester), Wm Morrisons & Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.
